Be Careful with Your Nanny Lists

By

Addresses are complex and easily mangled and misunderstood things especially in the intrnational realm.  In an increasingly globalized world, what is a quite unremarkable word in one country is someone else’s insult or obscenity.  As a consequence, search engines and all sorts of enterprises attempt to protect us, or thier vision of “us”, by blocking access or in some other way electronically impeding our access to sites or the use of certain terms in addresses.  Sometimes those efforts also produce quite hilarious results.

On that subject, GADA Advisory Board member Graham Rhind, with tongue fairly firmly planted in cheek, has posted us a Holiday present on Postcode Anywhere’s blog. Postcode Anywhere is showing some degree of courage, and of course demonstrating a very welcome sense of humor (humour?), in bringing us Graham’s “Effin’ Obscenity Screening!” http://blog.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/index.php/effin-obscenity-screening/

Happy New Year!
