GADA Member GoCode Helps in IndiaBy
Alex Pigot, CEO of GoCode of Ireland is recently returned from Kolkatta, (Calcutta), India where GoCode has been working with the NGO Hope Kolkatta Foundation to “address the unaddressed” in a slum in the suburb of Chetla where it is estimated that some quarter of a million people live in an informal settlement. There are few municipal services and no addresses. The postal service of course does not deliver in the area. We spent some time speaking with Alex about his experience of Chetla and Kolkatta and convinced him to let us publish here his description and photos of the community and his project. Alex has become a strong supporter of the Hope Kokatta Foundation and is certainly an inspiring ambassador for our message that an address is essential for a person to function effectively in the world. Alex’s co-ordinates are in the paper and his email is here.
