The great Ghost Office robbery | Leader.co.zaBy
This article was sent to us by a colleague in South Africa who reports that millions of pieces of mail are being publicly abandoned in the streets and gutters, including books and checks. Marketing leaders and company officials are publicly announcing they are ceasing to use direct mail. This excellent article reminds us that companies and the wealthier will not be hurt by the collapse of the post, but the general population will be seriously hurt. And perhaps the collapse of a post system presages the collapse of a society. When public office or senior management positions in “utilities” become sources of personal pillage and privilege, can the wider societal collapse be far behind? SAPO used to be a respected leader of the postal world in Africa.
