A new view of the geocode as an address elementBy
GADA member Alex Pigot provides us with a powerful argument for including geocodes within our traditional street addressing format. As a geo-location designator, it adds much to the traditional address’s content and meaning, and it can stand by itself as an address in countries lacking traditional address systems.
In fact, Mr. Pigot’s non-profit project Addressing the Unaddressed is providing such addresses in “unofficial” communities in India, especial in Kolkata. Visit the Go-Code website linked to in the article to learn more about this important work. If you are in India, you can even get your own Go-Code for free!

And please note that “GO” is pronounced “geo”.
