UPU Address Resolution Project
UPU ADDRESS RESOLUTION
GADA is supporting the creation of an address resolution to be put to the UPU Congress of 2012 in Doha. The project has drafted the resolution and will now negotiate and urge the adoption of this resolution. This will require focused attention and lobbying of a high order over the coming 18 months. To accomplish this, GADA will need the backing and financial support of all interested participants in the address data industry.
This is an expensive exercise for a new organization like GADA to undertake. Please join our organization and support the development of address systems world-wide.
The resolution will commit the UPU to devote considerable resources and time to our primary goals:
- the creation of address systems and databases world-wide
- the development of change of address systems world-wide
- the availability of the data in those systems on license terms that are commerically reasonable and non-discriminatory
- an increase of attention to digital developments and new tools for addressing systems and the communication and management of them,
- building awareness among policy-makers of the social, economic, and political importance of the address,
- and much more….
As the resolution moves through the UPU system, it will inevitably change. We will continually update this page with the current version of the resolution and we will provide a table with successive official versions if significant major changes occur.
UPU Resolution on Address Quality, Infrastructure, Products and Services (200)You are cordially invited to send any comments you may have on this document to Charles@globaladdress.org. Because this is a work in progress and the resolution will be subject to heavy negotiation, we urge you to watch for new developments.
